Environment

h Brazilian Pine Plywood is sourced from FSC® forest concessions in the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina, Southern Brazil.

Brazilian Pine (Pinus elliottis) is a non-native plantation species that was introduced to Brazil in order to avoid the harvesting of more tropical and endemic species. Including Eucalyptus, planted forest accounts for 1.6% of the total forested area of Brazil despite contributing to 91% of timber production.

ABIMCI is the acronym for Brazil’s timber association whose most influential members are all Brazilian Pine Plywood manufacturers. As an association, sustainability of their forest industry has been at the forefront of their activities. In recent years, they have undergone the task of planting species such as Paricá and Teca to replace the necessity of some tropical hardwoods found in the Amazon so that they may battle the deforestation of primary forests.

This mentality is carried into the production of h Brazilian Pine Plywood by the increased use of FSC® certified logs.
